Related varieties of Tisiphone occur around the East Australian coast as far as South Australia.

In butterfly conservation the related Gold Coast subspecies Tisiphone abeona morrisi, has sadly gone very endangered. This happened despite significant attempts including establishing alternative host plant colonies, to those disturbed by the Tugun bypass.

Early awareness and action is needed to maintain our own species. For example the Australian fritillary Argynnis hyperbuis is of unsure survival. One of the last sightings was around Maroochy Airport, decades ago.

Let’s keep up monitoring the survival of our own butterfly.
